Stay in the heart of Kainuu in Paltamo! We are located a 30-minute drive from Kajaani along Highway 22. You can book Bed & Breakfast accommodation from us year-round for travelers and larger groups in private rooms for 1–3 people.
B&B accommodation includes bed linen and towels, breakfast, and the opportunity to independently use a shared lounge and kitchenette. Our folk high school is located in a beautiful rural landscape of Kainuu without rush and noise.
We also have pet rooms and accessible accommodation available – ask for more information!
Please note that we do not have an electric vehicle charging station.

Lake Oulujärvi, Kajaani, Vuokatti, and the national parks of Northern Finland are within your reach for excursions, outdoor activities, and events in the Kainuu region. The Mieslahti marina and boat launch at Lake Oulujärvi is only a couple of kilometers away from our college. It is easy to arrive and park with us, even with larger trailers and hitches!
Events, courses, and meetings: accommodation at Kainuun Opisto
You can also stay with us conveniently when participating in studies, meetings, and festivities at Kainuun Opisto. We offer a personal and relaxed alternative to a basic hotel in the peace of nature, within the comfortable accommodation facilities of the college’s main building.
Bed & Breakfast – breakfast accommodation in a private room
B&B-level accommodation year-round in the main building of Kainuun Opisto.

99 €/night, in a double room + 21 € (third) extra person
Comfortable accommodation in rooms for 1–3 people with private toilet, shower, and free Wi-Fi connection. The price includes bed linen, towels, parking, and breakfast.
- Double rooms have 2 single beds, private toilet, and shower. The rooms are accessible and located on the ground floor of the main building.
- The 2–3 person rooms on the upper floor of the main building have 3 single beds, private toilet, and shower.

Hostel accommodation in a shared room

During the summer, it is also possible to stay affordably in a hostel at Kainuun Opisto. Hostel rooms accommodate 2–3 people, so you may share the accommodation with others. Our hostel can accommodate about 40 people.
Social facilities (toilet, shower, kitchen, and lounge with television) are shared. The price includes bed linen, Wi-Fi connection, and free parking. Breakfast is available for an additional fee (8.50 €/person). Sauna in a separate lakeside sauna is possible for an additional fee.

Delicious warm meals, tasty sweet and savory servings for parties and events. We organize catering for your party according to your wishes from our own kitchen. Please inform us of any special diets and food allergies of the participants when inquiring or booking, so we can reserve suitable servings for everyone.
Space for training, corporate events, family and birthday parties, or even family reunions! Adaptable party facilities in Kainuu, suitable for small groups up to 200-person events. Well-equipped meeting rooms, and the possibility to book delicious coffee services and meals from our own kitchen.
