Basic education for immigrant

  • Prepare for vocational school or high school.
  • Get a basic education certificate.
  • Learn the Finnish language; teaching in Finnish. 

By attending a basic education group at Kainuun Opisto you can complete your basic education studies and get a basic education certificate. It is possible to complete sudies and get a basic education certificate in one or in two years. After your study year, you will have a better chance of getting into the vocational training or high school of your choice.

Learning content:
This study line involves completing the basic education syllabus in the following subjects:
- Finnish
- English
- Finnish 2 (immigrants)
- Swedish
- Mathematics
- History and Social Studies
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology
- Geography
- Religion

The studies include educational guidance and work experience. It is also possible to study some elective subjects, such as IT, sports, handicrafts, expression, photography, or the band club, depending upon the group size.

Aims:
The aim of your studies will be to complete the basic education curriculum. In addition, you will try to "find your place" in life as well as the motivation to study and a belief in your own abilities.

Cost:
The registration fee is 50 euros, which is not refundable in case of cancellation.

Teaching fees for the basic education study line:
If you do not have a basic education certificate, you will be charged a registration fee fee of 50 euros. Immigrants pay only the registration fee of 50 euros.

Application period till 30th April 2016. Entrance test is on 11th May 2016 at Kainuun Opisto.
